Southern countries are today engaging in a range of forums. India is an active member in groupings such as BRICS and IBSA that are playing an important role in furthering south-south cooperation on issues such as trade, finance, climate, green technologies and aid. The G20 despite shortcomings continues to be an important geo-political and economic forum. Many of these forums are new with evolving structures, no enforceable agendas and suffer from a democratic deficit. Alongwith network partners in member countries we aim to facilitate analysis and a deeper engagement by civil society actors with these platforms.
