The SSI aims to monitor and conduct research on India’s trade and investment policy. This includes India’s positions at the World Trade Organisation, its engagement on various bilateral and regional Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Investment Treaties. We will engage with a range of actors including policy makers, academicians, social movements, trade unions, think-tanks, NGOs and activists in order to democratise trade and investment policy. We will also explore the possibilities of alternative models of trade in agriculture, services and goods modelled on improving existing institutional arrangements such as the UNCTAD led GSTP (General System of Trade Preferences) and the ALBA ( Bolivian Alliance for the Peoples of our America).
